CHICAGO, Ill. (Sept. 25, 2012) – The North Central College women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the University of Chicago Tuesday afternoon.
The Maroons (7-2-0), ranked sixth in the latest central region rankings by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), capitalized on three first half goals in the opening 26 minutes while holding the Cardinals (3-5-1) to just four shots on goal.
Micaela Harms got the hosts on the board just 1:34 into the contest, scoring on a one timer off passes from Meghan Derken and Natalia Jovanovic to take a 1-0 lead.
In the 18
th minute, Mary Bittner increased the Maroon lead to 2-0 finding the back of the net on her fourth goal of the season while Julia Ozello connected in the 26
th minute, giving Chicago the decisive 3-0 advantage.
The Maroons held a 16-9 shot advantage while
Hope Stayer led all players with four shots on the afternoon. Cardinal goalkeeper
Jacqueline Clore stopped three shots in the losing effort.
North Central travels to Bloomington, Ill. to take on College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin foe Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m.
