BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Jan. 16, 2013) – The North Central College women's basketball team fell victim to defending national champion Illinois Wesleyan University, 125-89, inside the Shirk Center, falling to 1-4 in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play.
The Titans (10-6, 3-2 CCIW) wasted no time in jumping out to an early 12-0 lead, scoring the games first five field goals.
Illinois Wesleyan continued to pour on the points throughout the first half, opening up a 69-32 lead at halftime. The Titans shot 66 percent from the floor in the opening half while holding the Cardinals to just over 25 percent shooting.
The Titans continued the offensive barrage in the second half, at one point opening up a 57-point advantage.
The Cardinals (8-8, 1-4 CCIW) were led by
Larynn Shumaker's 15 points and seven rebounds, while
Maryssa Cladis and
Sophie Newson each finished with 12 points.
Katy Seibring led the way for Illinois Wesleyan finishing with a double-double, scoring 23 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.
North Central is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 19, travelling to North Park University with tip-off slated for 2 p.m.
