Nov. 16, 2013 – The North Central College women's basketball team was undone at the hands of ninth-ranked Hope College, 126-56 in the championship game of the Chicago Marriott Naperville Tip-Off Tournament, Saturday night inside Gregory Arena.
Lauren Hernandez opened the game with a three-pointer, but the Cardinals (1-1) went cold over the next three minutes and the Flying Dutch took advantage, opening up a 15-3 lead at the 16:46 mark in the opening half.
Hope (2-0) continued the offensive onslaught throughout the first half, opening up a 71-30 advantage at halftime.
The second half was much of the same for the Cardinal defense, as Hope finished the contest shooting nearly 58 percent from the field on 49-85 shooting, en route to a 126-56 victory.
Six Flying Dutch finished in double figures on the evening paced by Rebekah Llorens game-high 23 points, while earning tournament most valuable player honors.
DeJa Moore paced the Cardinals with 12 points on 10-11 shooting from the free throw line, earning all-tournament team honors.
North Central is back in action Wednesday, November 20, hosting Lake Forest College at 7 pm.
