For the second time this young season, the North Central College women's basketball team has broken the program scoring record, cruising to a 123-99 victory over Lake Forest College.

North Central's 123 points break a program single-game scoring record, initially set in the season opening 113-111 win over Ripon College.

The Cardinals (2-1) opened the game on an 8-0 run and would not surrender the lead throughout the contest as Lauren Hernandez got the scoring started with a three-pointer, followed by another long ball from Bobbi Johns and a pair of free-throws from Maryssa Cladis.

North Central opened its first double-digit lead at the 17:14 mark of the opening half as Larynn Shumaker connected on a pair of foul shots, two of her team high 18 points on the evening.

Over the next four minutes the Cardinals lit up the nets with 23-4 scoring drive to take a 19-point lead, highlighted by a pair of Miranda Grizaffi three-pointers, as well as long balls from Cladis and Johns.

Lake Forest did not give in after the Cardinal run, as the Foresters went on a scoring run of its own, narrowing the North Central lead 58-52 at the intermission.

In the second half, North Central opened up an 11-point lead off a Cladis steal leading to an easy layup at the other end by Uzuri Williams.  The Cardinals would hold a double-digit lead the remainder of the contest, at one point opening up a 29-point lead.
