Bloomington, Ill. (Feb. 2, 2013) –
Kelsey Truedson earned a first-place finish and added two seconds, while
Drew Olehy won an event and placed second in another to lead the North Central College swimming teams at Illinois Wesleyan University Saturday.
Truedson's victory, the lone Cardinal win on the afternoon on the women's side, came in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.05). Her second-place finishes were in the 200-yard backstroke (2:17.31) and the 200-yard individual medley.
Loreli Patschke took third behind Truedson and Wesleyan's Kate Haynes, in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.88). Patschke also grabbed another third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (26.27).
Lucrecia Guerra took second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:51.96), with
Kathleen Fultz finishing just behind in third (2:59.37).
Gabrielle Williams finished third in the 200-yard backstroke, after touching the wall in 2:20.95.
The Cardinal women dropped their dual to Illinois Wesleyan 87-40, and were defeated by Wheaton College 86-37.
The men's team was led by Olehy's first-place finish in three-meter diving. Olehy won the event after scoring 177.67 points. He also came in third in the one-meter diving (172.80 points).
Robb Showalter was the only other competitor for the Cardinals, and his best performance was a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.98).
The Cardinal men were defeated 95-13 by Wheaton, and dropped their other dual, 69-23, to Illinois Wesleyan.
The swimming teams are back in action next Friday when they take on Wheaton in the lone home meet of the season at 4:30 p.m.
