CCIW Release

Feb. 5, 2013 – North Central College student-athlete Nathan Fitzenreider has been named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week for the week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3.

Fitzenreider claimed the individual title at the Wheaton College Pete Willson Invitational over the weekend at 133 pounds.  After a first round bye, Fitzenreider pinned Jeremy Jones of Ohio Northern University in a time of 3:51 before downing Chad Lammer of Elizabethtown College by a 9-6 decision to advance to the semi-finals.  In the semi-finals Fitzenreider shutout Messiah College's Kyle Coblentz, 6-0, before cruising past UW-Parkside's Joseph Her in the championship match by major decision, 10-1.

So far this season, Fitzenreider has posted an overall record of 27-1, also claiming the individual title at 141 pounds at the 49^th Annual North Central College Invite held on Dec. 8.  Fitzenreider's 148 career victories sit him second on the program's all-time list, just nine wins from tying Gabe Youel '10 atop the list while his 38 career pins also lands him in a three-way tie for second in program history.

North Central is back on the mat on Thursday, Feb. 7, hosting second-ranked Elmhurst College in a CCIW dual match starting at 7 p.m.
