NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 2, 2013)– The North Central College women's soccer team fell, 4-0, against the 25th-ranked University of Chicago Maroons at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on Monday.
This was the Cardinals' (0-1-0) first official game of the season due to their Friday home opener being postponed due to weather.
In the first half, the Maroons (1-0-0) came out on top with two goals secured by Micaela Harms and Meghan Derken. North Central's first-half goalie, Nicki Seiton, had one save while allowing the two goals.
After the halftime break, North Central struggled to keep possession of the ball as Chicago took control scoring an additional two goals by Mary Bittner and Bailey Sayin. As the Cardinals had to up their defense, second-half goalie Jacqueline Clore, made eight saves including a couple of dives to knock the ball out.
Caitlin Orawiec had three shots for the Cardinals with Amy Gerald, Hope Stayer, and Victoria Dunn each securing one.
The Cardinals are home on Thursday, Sept. 5 for the Sal Vaccaro Tournament, taking on Benedictine University at 7 p.m.
