Women's Soccer Snatches First Conference Win

DECATUR, Ill. (Sept. 28, 2013)­– The North Central College women's soccer team put out a strong fight in their first conference game of the season, defeating Millikin University, 1-0, in double overtime. 

The Cardinals' (2-5-1) fought back and forth with Big Blue (5-4) on Saturday as both teams ended the first two halves 0-0.  Hope Stayer tacked on 10 overall shots for North Central as Rachael Houp, Karli Jo Hitz, Katrina McNeela, Nicholette Fulk, Mackenzie Wenger and Hannah Smith also added shots for the team.
 
Nicki Seiton claimed her first shutout game of the season, gathering five saves for the Cardinals.
 
It wasn't until the second overtime where North Central finally caught the break they were looking for.  With 107:58 into the match, Stayer received a penalty kick in which she put the shot right past goalie, Kayla Lojas, giving the team their lone goal of the game and securing the well-deserved victory.
 
The Cardinals return home on Wednesday to take on Elmhurst College in their second conference matchup.  Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Benedett-Wehrli Stadium.
