GALESBURG, Ill. (Jan. 4, 2014) – The North Central College wrestling team turned in an impressive performance Saturday at the Chuck Porter Duals hosted by Knox College, going 2-2 on the afternoon with its two losses to nationally ranked opponents, highlighted by
Andrew Rodawold's 4-0 showing.

The Cardinals opened the day with a 27-12 loss to 12
th ranked Luther College (Iowa), before following with a pounding of host Knox, 44-5. 10
th ranked Wabash College (Ind.) succumbed the Cardinals, 33-9 before North Central closed the evening with a 40-6 route of Hannibal-LaGrange University (Mo.).

In the opening loss against Luther, the Cardinals earned a trio of victories as Rodawold defeated Dakota Gray by decision, 6-0 at 141 pounds, while
Nathan Segal pinned Cody Orr in a time of 2:33 at 149 and
Josh Tardy defeated Blake Letney by decision, 5-1.

The Cardinals followed up with a 44-5 victory over Knox, as North Central was victorious in 9 of 10 weight classes.Â
Layten Binion (133 pounds), Segal (149) and
Casey Greenberg (197) each won by forfeit, while
Nick Santos pinned Matt Sugai at the 30 second mark in the opening period at 125 pounds.Â

At 141 Rodawold downed Esai Ponce by decision, 7-3, Tardy cruised past Eric Vogel by major decision, 11-2 and
Alex Vosburgh was victorious by major decision at 165. Â At 174,
Eric Kirkman defeated Greg Ventris by an 8-1 decision, while
Dylan Mahler pinned Joe Chirbas in a time of 4:30.

In the afternoon North Central was undone at the hands of Wabash, but the Cardinals earned victories from Binion at 133, Rodawold at 141 and Mahler at 285.

Wrapping up the afternoon with a decisive win over Hannibal-LaGrange, North Central once again earned victories in 9 of 10 weight classes, receiving forfeit victories by Rodawold (141), Tardy (157) and
Vincent Pizzo (184).Â

At 125, Santos was victorious over Brady Sloup by decision, 12-5, while Binion won by tech fall over Caleb McElfresh, 21-6 and Segal snuck out a 5-3 decision over Tyler Sonnabend at 149.Â

Vosburgh earned a 17-10 decision over Jeremiah Reed at 165, while Greenberg won by tech fall over Konner Broughton, 15-0 at 197 and Mahler defeated Michael Wright, 13-8 at 285.

North Central hosts Augustana College in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) dual Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 7 pm inside Gregory Arena.
