The Cardinals (6-6-2, CCIW 2-3-0) held strong defense for the first half of the game as midfielder
Mary Lanoue had great blocks to give the team possession and get them on the Thunder's territory. Defender
Amy Gerald was also seen attacking the Wheaton's offense to help hold them down to just one goal.
However, the Thunder (14-1-2, CCIW 4-0-1) acted quickly at the start of the second half with three goals in the first five minutes. They added one more in the 55
th minute before midfielder
Hannah Magiera was given a penalty kick after a Wheaton foul. Magiera shot one past goalkeeper Kelsey Graham to put the Cardinals on the board, making it 5-1.
For the remainder of the game Gerald and Magiera helped hold off the Thunder as they deflected shots and grabbed steals to stop Wheaton's offense from producing a bigger gain.

Wheaton snuck one more goal in the 68

North Central will host conference competitor Millikin University on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
