LISLE, Ill. (Nov. 26, 2014) – Eclipsing the 100-point plateau for the third-consecutive game to open the season, the North Central College women's basketball team jumped out to a quick start, holding a 30-point lead at halftime and cruising to a 108-74 win over Benedictine University on Wednesday inside the Rice Center.
After the Eagles (0-5) scored the game's first basket, North Central responded with a 17-0 run over the next four minutes, highlighted by three-pointers from
Kimberly Wilson,
Therese Pettersson and
Miranda Grizaffi.
The Cardinals (3-0) continued to pour it on offensively in the opening half, taking a 34-13 lead off back-to-back long balls from Pettersson with just over eight minutes to play.
North Central opened up its largest lead of the first half at the 1:56 mark as
Mayson Whipple put the Cardinals up 60-24 with one of 14 first half three pointers, while North Central capitalized to score 39 points off 30 Benedictine turnovers.
The second half was much of the same for the Cardinal offense, at one point leading by as many as 41 points down the stretch, cruising to a 108-74 win while surpassing the 100-point mark in each contest so far this season.
Four Cardinals finished in double-figure scoring, led by Pettersson's 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field, including 3-of-6 from long range while
Tess Godhardt,
Paula Zerante and
Emily Zgoda each finished with 10 points apiece.
North Central finished a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line and forced 42 turnovers on the evening.
