Feb. 15, 2014 – The North Central College women's basketball team fell victim to cold shooting, falling to Wheaton College, 96-52 Saturday night inside Gregory Arena on Senior Night.
North Central (11-13, 4-9 CCIW) shot a miniscule 19 percent from the field, completing just 17 of 91 shot attempts, including a 4 of 36 (11%) showing from three-point range.
Wheaton (18-5, 9-4 CCIW) opened the game on a 20-4 run, as the Thunder run was capped off by a Mariah Reeves jumper.
The Cardinals hung tough in the first half despite making more free throws than field goals, trailing 41-30 heading into halftime, thanks in part to 19 Thunder turnovers.
The second half was all Wheaton as the Thunder connected on 53 percent shooting from the floor, while holding the Cardinals to just 1 of 21 shooting from three.
North Central was led by
Uzuri Williams 12 points, eight rebounds, while
Tess Godhardt also finished with 10 points on the evening.
The Wheaton offense was led by Katie McDaniels' 19 points and six assists, while Ellie Zeller added 18 points and nine rebounds.
