CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (Mar. 15, 2014) - The North Central College baseball team made a statement about their offense on Saturday as they defeated Dominican University, 8-4. This brings the Cardinals to 4-1 so far on the season.
Kicking off the first inning,
Zac Pacanowski singled and received at RBI by scoring in
Vito DeRango for the first run of the game. This was followed by
Sam Klein who singled scoring in Pacanowski for a quick 2-0 lead.
The Cardinals returned the action quickly in the second inning with tacking on three more runs to the scoreboard and pulling ahead of Dominican 5-0.
Starter
Ben Krusen held off Dominican for the beginning half of the game. It wasn't until the fourth inning where Dominican appeared on the board with their first run.
North Central stayed offensively quiet until a big breakthrough in the ninth inning where the Cardinals scored 3 runs, pulling ahead 8-3.
Dominican added one more run to the board, but it wasn't enough to faze North Central in the end.
North Central's games on Sunday against Loras and Wabash College have been canceled due to weather conditions. Those rescheduled games are to be determined. The next scheduled match for the Cardinals is against St. Norbert College on Friday at 1 p.m.
