CLAREMONT, Calif. (Mar. 27, 2014) -Â The North Central College women's lacrosse team dropped to 0-3 on its Spring Break trip to the West Coast on Thursday, losing a 13-8 decision to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges at the South Athletic Complex.
The Cardinals (1-3) will look to close non-conference play with a win on Saturday as they host Linfield College (Ore.) at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
Pomona-Pitzer (10-3) wasted little time taking control once Thursday's game started, scorng the contest's first five goals before
Gina Fisher opened the Cardinals' scoring with a free-position goal with 17:10 left in the first period. The Sagehens went on to convert 11 of their 15 shot attempts in the opening half, carrying an 11-4 advantage into the halftime break.
The Cardinals limited Pomona-Pitzer to two goals in the second half, but managed just five shot attempts of their own. North Central did manage to score the final three goals of the evening.
Rachael Houp finished with team highs of five goals and four draw controls, both of which are new career highs, while Fisher scored three goals. Goalkeeper
Sandy Stasaitis saved eight shots and recorded four ground balls.
Sarah Markowitz, Ally McLaughlin and Jana London each scored three goals to pace the Sagehens. McLaughlin also totaled nine ground balls.
