Jan. 21, 2015 - North Central College sophomore Howard Beatty was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week for the week of Jan. 15-21.

Beatty (11-7) recently took third-place in the 141-pound weight class at the Al Hanke Invitational hosted by Elmhurst College on Saturday. Beatty recorded three quick pins in the first round of three matches on his way to a 5-1 overall record. 

He won by fall over Trine University's Jeffery Helm in his first match before losing to Kerin Rameriz of Harper College in the second round. Beatty went 4-0 the rest of the day including a win in the third place match against Olivet College's Curtis Blackwell by fall at 2:47

The Cardinals pick back up on Thursday at Gregory Arena when they host the Wheaton College Thunder (2-6). Action will begin at 7:00 p.m., live statistics and video can be found here.
