Kenosha, Wis. (Oct. 3, 2015) – The North Central College men's soccer team dropped a tough one as they fell 1-0 to Carthage College in overtime on Saturday evening at Art Keller Field.

North Central opened up CCIW play as they traveled to Carthage (6-4-1) to take on the Red Men. The Cardinals (1-10) were looking to turn their season around going into their conference schedule and put up a valiant effort but ultimately lost in the final minutes of overtime.

North Central came out strong as they hoped to start their CCIW schedule on an optimistic note. The Cardinals exhibited an even distribution of shots as not a single Cardinal logged more than two shots in the contest. The Cardinal defense also stepped up as they did not allow a single goal for the first two periods and a majority of overtime. Unfortunately, the Carthage attack kept coming and scored the game-winning goal in the final moments of overtime.

The lone goal of the game occurred in the 98th minute as Carthage sophomore Johnny Rimkus found the back of the net off of a Filip Dyminski assist. Despite the loss, North Central showed that they can compete and that they would not go down without a fight. The Red Men outshot the Cardinals 23-15 and 7-5 in shots on goal. Justin De Boer recorded six saves in the contest.

The Cardinals look to bounce back from this as they still have six games in conference and one non-conference matchup left in the season. North Central receives a week-long break in action as they travel to North Park next Saturday, Oct. 10th, with kickoff at 7:30 pm.
