Dec. 15, 2015 – The North Central College wrestling team featured a recipient of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) wrestler of the week award in Ben Williamson.

Williamson, a freshman from Naperville, Illinois and Naperville Central High School, won the 149 weight class at the North Central College Invitational on Saturday. Seeded third, Williamson opened with an 11-3 major decision over Augustana's Bryce Thomas before earning a 3-1 decision over Olivet's Matt Lopez in the quarterfinals. The physical education major won by fall at 2:55 against Augustana's Matt Sears in the semifinal, an opponent he defeated by decision earlier in the season in the Cardinals dual meet. Williamson then defeated No. 1 seed Adrian Collier of Dubuque 2-1 in the championship match.

Williamson has posted a 13-7 record thus far on the season with eight of his wins coming by decision. He also posts a 1-0 dual meet record after winning his match in the Augustana dual.

This is the first time Williamson has received this award and the second North Central honoree of the season (Tardy 11/17).

The Cardinals receive a break in action as they do not compete until December 29^th in the Midlands Championship in Evanston, Ill. Meet is scheduled to start at 9:30 am.
