Feb. 3, 2015 - North Central College women's track and field athlete Madison Renfro has been selected as one of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week, as announced by the CCIW on Tuesday.
Renfro was voted the CCIW's top running-event athlete of the week after placing first in the 60-meter hurdles for the second straight week at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk Classic on Saturday. Her time of 8.79 seconds was her fastest of the season and established a new track record in the event.
An NCAA Division III All-American in 2014 both indoors and outdoors, Renfro is currently the fastest hurdler in the CCIW and the second-fastest nationwide among Division III athletes. Her selection gives North Central one of the CCIW's weekly awards for the third straight week, as thrower Ebony Stallworth was so honored the first two weeks of the season.
The No. 13-ranked Cardinals will send their multi-event athletes to the Illinois Wesleyan University Keck Invitational on Friday before taking the rest of the team to the Olivet Nazarene University Invitational on Saturday.
