Mar. 12, 2015 - The North Central College women's lacrosse team endured a lengthy offensive dry spell at the most inopportune of times in its 2015 home opener on Thursday, losing a 14-8 contest to the Albion College Britons at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

The Cardinals (1-1) were held scoreless for the final 16:49 of the game, during which time Albion scored five unanswered goals to extend what had been a one-goal lead to improve to a perfect 4-0 on the young season.

North Central led for much of the early going, as Bianca Perri, Madison Maas and Emily Zadny scored the game's first three goals and the hosts held the Britons scoreless for nearly 10 minutes. The Cardinals owned a 6-2 advantage before Albion closed the half by tallying four straight scores in the final 16:44 to tie the score at 6-6 heading into halftime.

The Britons got two goals from Julie Wood and a third from Ashley Glenn to take the lead for the first time, though North Central responded with goals from Zadny and Maas to close the gap to 9-8. The Cardinals were able to get just one shot on goal the rest of the game, though, as Albion controlled the draw after four straight goals to prevent North Central from mounting a comeback attempt.

Glenn, Wood and Kadie Koolwick scored four goals each for Albion, while Glenn also recorded 10 draw controls. Maas and Zadny paced the Cardinals with three goals each, while Gina Fisher caused three turnovers and Kat Schultz saved eight shots on goal.
