(Mar. 14, 2015) -Â The first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) win in the program's history came in dominant fashion for the North Central College women's lacrosse team on Saturday, as the Cardinals led from wire to wire in a 22-4 victory over the Carroll University Pioneers at Schneider Stadium in the first matchup between the two teams.
The Cardinals (2-1, 1-0 CCIW) scored the game's first six goals and enjoyed a run of 11 unanswered scores midway through the game in tying their single-game record for scoring while outshooting Carroll, 32-7.
North Central held the Pioneers scoreless for nearly 18 minutes at the game's outset, scoring six times during that span. After Carroll scored twice in just over a minute to leave the score at 7-2, the Cardinals scored nine straight goals in the final 8:35 of the period to head into halftime with a commanding 16-2 advantage.
Claire Norfleet and
Gina Fisher paced North Central's scoring efforts with five goals each.
Jordyn McFarlane totaled a career-high four assists, while Norfleet added three
Madison Maas finished with two. Fisher and Norfleet also shared the team lead in draw controls (6), and Fisher also collected five ground balls and tied her own single-game school record with six caused turnovers. Betty Koenig and Kailey Leahy scored two goals each for Carroll (0-2, 0-1).
