Gina Fisher has been voted one of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for Mar. 9-15. The CCIW announced this week's award winners on Monday.
Fisher was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the Cardinals' first three games of the season, two of which resulted in wins. She opened the week by putting up four goals, two assists, seven ground balls, four draw controls and six caused turnovers in a 14-13 overtime win at Aurora University on Tuesday. In a 14-8 loss to Albion College on Thursday, she contributed two assists, four ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers.
On Saturday, Fisher finished with five goals, one assist, five ground balls, six draw controls and six caused turnovers as North Central posted its first-ever CCIW win, defeating Carroll University, 22-4. Her six caused turnovers against Aurora and Carroll tied the single-game school record she already shared with teammate
Rebecca James.
This is the CCIW's first year sponsoring a championship in women's lacrosse. Fisher was the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) Defensive Player of the Year each of the last two seasons and already owns North Central's career records for assists (53), ground balls (192) and caused turnovers (102).
North Central travels to face Cornell College (Iowa) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Live video coverage can be accessed by clicking
