Mar. 23, 2015 -Â North Central College juniors Gina Fisher and Claire Norfleet have claimed the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin's (CCIW) Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week Awards on offense and defense, respectively, for the week of Mar. 16-22.
The pair were recognized for their contributions to the Cardinals' two wins last weekend. North Central won a 19-5 decision at Cornell College (Iowa) on Saturday before prevailing, 19-1, at Wartburg College (Iowa) on Sunday.
Fisher was named the conference's top offensive player for the second straight week after totaling 11 goals in the two games, scoring four times against Cornell and seven times against Wartburg. She also totaled seven draw controls and six caused turnovers in the two games and currently ranks first nationally among all NCAA Division III players in caused turnovers per game (4.20).
Norfleet was selected as the CCIW's top-performing defensive player following a weekend during which she accumulated four goals, four assists and nine draw controls. She tied a career high with six draw controls against Cornell and helped North Central hold the Rams without a goal for a nearly 40-minute span in Saturday's game.
