Sep. 16, 2015 - The North Central College women's soccer team won their fourth game in a row, shutting out the Concordia University Chicago Cougars, 1-0 on Wednesday evening at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

The first half saw a dominating performance of ball control by the Cardinals (4-1), outshooting their opponents 6-1 and 4-1 in shots on goal. The lone goal of the half came in the 15th minute when Jessica DeJong fired a rocket at the Cougars keeper who could not come up with the save. North Central tallied a few more shots in the period but went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

The Cardinals continued their ball control in the second half, logging seven more shots, three on goal. North Central did not allow a single shot on goal in the second half and only allowed four more registered shots. The one goal lead was enough for the defense to secure the win over the Eagles (1-5). North Central outshot their opponents 13-5 and 9-1 in shots on goal.

Emily Gaither and Taylor Markanich led the way in shots with three apiece. Nicki Seiton recorded her third shutout in a row and moved to a tie for second on the all-time list. DeJong logged her fourth goal on the season, the eventual game-winning goal.

North Central hosts non-conference opponent University of Wisconsin La Crosse on Friday, Sep. 18 with game time at 6 pm.
