Sep. 19, 2015 - The North Central College women's soccer team won their fifth game in a row, shutting out the University of Wisconsin La Crosse Eagles, 1-0 on Saturday morning at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

In the first meeting between the two programs, the first half saw a large amount of back and forth action as both teams felt each other out. Both teams exchanged the same amount of shots (6) in the first half, yet neither team connected. The score would be 0-0 at halftime.

After the brief intermission, the Cardinals (5-1) took a quick lead scoring in the 52nd minute. Jessica DeJong found the back of the net and logged her second game in a row with a score. The Eagles (4-3) would not go down without a fight as they continued to control the ball for the majority of the second half. The Cardinals stayed strong as their defense was tested but the one goal lead proved to be enough for the Cardinals to seal the victory.

The teams were very evenly matched as both teams recorded six shots on goal in the match, with North Central tallying 10 total shots and La Crosse totaling nine shots. Taylor Markanich led all players with five shots.

Nicki Seiton recorded her fourth shutout in a row and took sole possession of second on the all-time list with eight career shutouts. DeJong logged her fifth goal of the season, the eventual game-winning goal.

North Central hosts non-conference opponent Webster University on Sunday, Sep. 20 with game time at 2 pm.
