St. PAUL, Minn. (Sep. 7, 2015) – The North Central College women's soccer team won their second game in a row, shutting out the Bethel University Royals, 3-0 on Monday evening.
The Cardinals (2-1) took the lead in the final two minutes of the first half when
Caitlyn Orawiec found the back of the net, giving them a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, the Cardinals and Royals (1-2) exchanged a multitude of shots back and forth but it was ultimately the Cardinals who pulled ahead.
In the 58
th minute, the Cardinals added to their lead when freshman forward
Victoria Stutzman scored off of a
Rebecca Sneddon assist. North Central wasn't done there as they added a third goal in the 82
nd minute. A corner kick by
Noelia Reyes allowed
Amy Gerald to log her first goal of the season. Stutzman and Orawiec's goals were also their first of the season.
Bethel outshot the Cardinals 15-10 but only recorded three on goal. North Central's defense once again held strong for the second game in a row, shutting out the Royals.
Nicki Seiton recorded her first shutout of the season in the win, grabbing three saves in the process.
The Cardinals travel to Pella, Iowa to take on Central College on Tuesday, Sep. 8 in a non-conference match-up beginning at 1 pm.
