Jan. 12, 2016 - North Central received another honor this week as
Layten Binion was recognized as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday.
Binion went 2-0 in the NWCA Duals this previous weekend as he took down fifth-ranked Josh Martin of Cornell by a 4-3 decision. Binion's only loss of the season had been to Martin earlier in the season. He dominated in his second appearance as he defeated Baldwin Wallace's Zach Taylor in just 23 seconds by fall. Thus far, Binion is 9-1 on the season including a 5-1 tournament record. He is a perfect 3-0 in duals and has won five matches by decision and two by pin.
This is Binion's first appearance this season and North Central's third honoree of the year (Williamson and Tardy). The Cardinals are back in action this weekend as the Wheaton College Duals and the Elmhurst College Invitational fall on January 16 and will include an entire team effort on the day.
