Oct. 31, 2016 - North Central College football player Broc Rutter has been recognized with his second College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Player of the Week award, earning the distinction on Monday for games played on Oct. 29.

Rutter was honored for his efforts in the Cardinals' 62-7 Homecoming victory over Carroll University on Saturday. He needed just one half of play to lead eight scoring drives and build a 56-0 halftime lead, completing 17 of 20 passes for 180 yards and four touchdowns. His completion percentage of 85.0 matched the fifth-best single-game passing accuracy in the program's history.

The CCIW's leader in passing yards (2,028), passing touchdowns (26) and passing efficiency (181.4), Rutter joins Elmhurst College quarterback Orlando Hernandez and Illinois Wesleyan University running back Maurice Shoemaker-Gilmore as the CCIW's only two-time Offensive Player of the Week honorees this season. Rutter also received the award after completing 22 of 26 passes for 284 yards and three scores in a 38-21 win over Webber International University (Florida) on Sept. 10.

The Cardinals have a total of seven CCIW Player of the Week Awards this season. Linebackers DJ Warkenthien and Tommy Sora have been recognized on defense, while punt returner Pat Cravens, punter Zane Lodico and kicker Liam Crotty have each been honored on special teams.

Ranked fifth by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and sixth by D3football.com, North Central (8-0, 6-0 CCIW) travels to face Carthage College (6-2, 4-2 CCIW) on Saturday, with kickoff at Art Keller Field set for 1:00 p.m.
