CCIW Press Release
Nov. 7, 2016 – The North Central College women's soccer team was honored with two members being selected to the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) all-conference team announced on Monday.
Junior
Emily Gaither was selected as a defender while Freshman
Catherine Kent was named as a midfielder, both named to the second-team for the CCIW.
Gaither was primarily a defender for the Cardinals, helping them shutout four opponents on the season. She also tallied a goal in one of the more exciting games for the Cardinals this season. Down 1-0 in one of their final conference games against North Park University, Gaither was able to score in the final minute of the match to allow North Central to force overtime and eventually win just five minutes into extra time.
Newcomer Kent came to the Cardinals this season and immediately had an impact on the team. She was one of the two primary corner kick selections this season and logged her single assist in the same game against North Park, this time being responsible for the game-winning goal.
The Cardinals set the program record for most conference wins in a season with four this year and made the conference tournament for just the second time in school history and first time since 2012. North Central finished the season 5-11-2 and will graduate five seniors but will look to improve even further next season.
