Press Release

Dec. 21, 2016 – For the second time this season, the North Central College wrestling team was honored with a member of the team being named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week in Ben Williamson.

Williamson most recently competed in the Desert Duals on December 19 where he finished an undefeated 3-0 against his competition in the 149 weight class, the only Cardinal to do so.

Williamson started the day shutting out Wartburg College's Blake Meyer in a 6-0 decision. He would follow that up with an 8-1 decision against Manchester's Jordan Napier before finishing the day with a dominant 19-0 technical fall against UW-Oshkosh's Joe Pelkey, outscoring his opponents 23-1.

The Cardinals finished the day with a 2-1 record after defeating Manchester University 20-18 and UW-Oshkosh 27-15.

Williamson is currently 18-5 on the season including four pins, three technical falls, and ten decisions. He is 10-4 in tournament competition and 8-1 in duals.

This is the second time a Cardinal has been named Wrestler of the Week as Layten Binion received the honor on November 22.

The Cardinals return to competition on January 5 as they travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. for the NWCA National Duals held at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
