CHICAGO, Ill. (Dec. 28, 2016) – Rolling past Roosevelt University, 103-83 in the opener of the Roosevelt Classic, the North Central College women's basketball team used a strong third quarter and a trio of career highs to cruise to its third straight victory.

The Cardinals (7-4) took a 47-46 lead into halftime after a back-and-forth first half, but came out firing in the second half, outscoring the Lakers (8-7), 31-17 in the third quarter. A three-pointer from
Miranda Grizaffi gave the Cardinals its largest lead of the quarter 78-61, one of four long balls from the Cardinal offense as
Anita Sterling hit twice and
Michaela Reedy also connected from long range.

Sterling scored 11 of her career-high 28 points in the third quarter, while North Central rolled from that point forward, leading by as many as 21 down the stretch. Sterling shot 10-of-18 from the field, including six three pointers, while also leading the team with six rebounds and six steals.

Reedy finished with a career-best 17 points off the bench in just 12 minutes of playing time, shooting 3-of-9 from beyond the arc. Freshman
Maya Walls added a season-high 12 points in her short career, also tying for the team lead with six boards.

Mayson Whipple and
Caroline Heimerdinger combined for just three points but each dished out seven assists, as North Central assisted on 26-of-35 made field goals.

North Central held a detrimental advantage in three-point shooting with a 18-5 margin, while the defense forced 43 Laker turnovers on the evening.

Paige Gallimore led the Roosevelt offense with 25 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field, while Lindzy Cox finished with a double-double, adding 10 points and 13 rebounds. Emily Duckhorn also finished in double-figures for the Lakers, scoring 15 points off the bench.

North Central will take on Concordia University-Michigan tomorrow in the championship game of the Roosevelt Classic with tip-off at 3 p.m. inside the Goodman Center.
