CLERMONT, Fla. (Mar. 22, 2016) – Not being able to get any offense going as well as struggling defensively, the North Central College softball team dropped both games of their doubleheader, losing to Fontbonne 10-2 before falling to Benedictine 8-2.

In game one, the Cardinals scored two runs on one hit in the first, playing small ball to take the early lead but would leave the bases loaded to end the inning. Fontbonne answered with a run in the second and three in the third to take a 4-2 lead. The Griffins erupted for five runs in the fifth off of six hits and one error and added another run in the sixth. North Central could not get any offensive output all game, being outhit 15-1 while committing five errors in the contest.

Game two would not be much kinder to the Cardinals (6-4) as they only scored two runs despite outhitting Benedictine 8-6. The Eagles took advantage of a four error second inning by the Cardinals, scoring seven runs on five hits. North Central could only put two runs on the scoreboard, scoring once in the third off of an Amanda Walker RBI single and one in the fifth thanks to a Jenna Trojniar triple. North Central struggled defensively in game two as well, committing seven errors.

Andrea Starr would receive the loss despite giving up zero earned runs and six hits while striking out three.
