Mar. 29, 2016 – Yet to allow an earned run this season, North Central College's
Jordan Van Dyck has been selected as College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, for the week of Mar. 22-28.
Van Dyck's selection mark's the Cardinals' third CCIW Player of the Week honor this season, as
Chris Hill and
Bryan Polowy were named Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, on Mar. 8.
The senior went eight innings to earn the victory in the Cardinals, 2-1 win over Manchester University on Mar. 22 to end their spring trip in Florida. Van Dyck allowed one run, zero earned, on four hits and striking out a pair. He followed up with a relief appearance in game one of the doubleheader against Wisconsin Lutheran College on Mar. 26, tossing the final two innings, allowing just one hit while striking out two.
Van Dyck has allowed zero earned runs over 14.0 innings pitched this season and has yet to walk a batter, striking out eight in the process. He is holding opposing batters to a .146 batting average and has recorded one save.
The Cardinals (11-0) are off to the program's best start since 1993 and recently jumped into the D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Top-25 Poll, coming in at No. 19 this week.
North Central begins CCIW play this weekend at Augustana College, with game one of the doubleheader slated for 1 p.m. at Swanson Stadium. The two teams wrap up the three-game series on Sunday at Zimmerman Stadium, with first pitch slated for 1 p.m. The links to live in-game statistics are available
