CCIW Press Release

Mar. 8, 2016 –
After leading the North Central College baseball team to a 3-0 start to open the 2016 season, Chris Hill and Bryan Polowy were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Players of the Week on Tuesday.

Hill batted .462 (6-for-13) over the weekend, while hitting for the cycle in the 11-0 win over Carleton in the opening game of the doubleheader on Mar. 6, and also homered twice in the nightcap.  Hill tripled in the first inning of game one, launched a solo homerun in the fourth, doubled in the seventh and completed the cycle with a ninth-inning single.

The junior cathcer recorded five extra base hits over the weekend including three homeruns, increasing his slugging percentage to an astounding 1.385, while also leading the team with eight runs batted in and 19 total bases as the Cardinals outscored opponents 45-12 over the three games.

Polowy dazzled on the mound, picking up where he left off last season, as the returning All-American tossed six, one-hit innings in the 11-0 game one shutout over Carleton, striking out nine in the process.  The Cardinal bullpen did not allow a hit over the final three innings, securing the one-hit shutout.

North Central is back in action on Friday, Mar, 11, taking on Benedictine University in Terre Haute, Ind. at Rose-Hulman University's Art Nehf Field, with first pitch slated for 5 p.m. (ET).
