Apr. 12, 2016 – North Central College baseball player
Russell Hoh has been honored by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW), earning the distinction of Pitcher of the Week for the week of Apr. 5-11.
Hoh's Player of the Week selection is the fourth for the Cardinals this season, as
Jordan Van Dyck earned Pitcher of the Week on Mar. 29, while
Bryan Polowy and
Chris Hill earned Pitcher and Hitter of the Week, respectively, on Mar. 8.
Hoh posted a 2-0 record last week with a miniscule earned run average of 0.69, recording the win in each of his two starts over Millikin University on Apr. 5 and North Park University on Apr. 11. Against Millikin, Hoh allowed two runs, only one earned, over seven innings, striking out seven and walking just one batter. He followed up with six shutout innings to go along with six strikeouts, clinching the season series over North Park in the Cardinals, 11-3 win on Monday.
The sophomore currently leads the CCIW with a 0.72 ERA this season, allowing just two earned runs all season over 25 innings pitched, while striking out 23 and walking just five. Hoh has allowed only two extra base hits all season, while holding opposing batters to a .202 average.
North Central looks to complete the season sweep of Millikin on Wednesday, Apr. 13, with first pitch slated for 3 p.m. at Zimmerman Stadium. Links to live in-game coverage are available
