CCIW Press Release
Apr. 12, 2016 - After opening the 2016 outdoor season by posting a nation-leading mark, North Central College women's track and field athlete
Madison Renfro has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Track Athlete of the Week for Apr. 4-10.
Renfro received the distinction after turning in a winning time of 14.16 seconds to place first in the 100-meter hurdles in the Chicagoland Outdoor Championships at the College of DuPage on Saturday. Also a third-place finisher in the 100-meter dash on Saturday (12.77), Renfro owns a time .13 seconds faster than any other NCAA Division III athlete in the nation.
A three-time outdoor All-American and North Central's current outdoor record holder in the 100-meter hurdles (13.65), Renfro won the Division III national championship in the 60-meter hurdles in March, winning the 16th individual national title in the program's history.
While the majority of the Cardinals' squad will be split between the Wheaton College Don Church Twilight Meet and the Benedictine University Eagle Invitational this weekend, Renfro will compete in the 100-meter hurdles in the Mt. SAC Relays at Cerritos College Falcon Stadium in Norwalk, California on Friday before running in the 100- and 400-meter hurdle events in the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State University on Saturday.
