May 2, 2016 – Four members of the North Central College women's lacrosse team were honored as part of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) All-Conference Teams on Monday, with seniors
Gina Fisher,
Claire Norfleet and
Rebecca James being named to the First Team, and senior
Kailey Robbins named to the Second Team.
Fisher leads the Cardinals in goals scored (58), ground balls (113), draw controls (58) and caused turnovers (63) this season. She also currently leads the CCIW in points per game (5.53), ground balls per game (5.64), and caused turnovers per game (3.71). She was first in the nation among NCAA DIII players in ground balls per game, fifth in caused turnovers per game
In 2016, she set North Central single season records for ground balls (113) and caused turnovers (63).With three more goals, she can match the Cardinal's single season record for goals scored (61) which she set in 2014. She is North Central's career record holder for goals (215), assists (106), ground balls (363), draw controls (255) and turnovers caused (202).
Norfleet is the Cardinal's assists leader (40), and is second in goals (52), ground balls (34) and draw controls (38). She ranks second in the CCIW in assists per game (2.35) and points per game (5.35).
Norfleet is also well established in the Cardinal's record books, ranking second all-time in assists (94) and draw controls (166), and third in goals (132). She also set a new record for single assists (40) in 2016.
James is a First Team All-Conference selection for the third consecutive season, collecting 30 ground balls and recording 14 caused turnovers so far in 2016. She is ranked second for career turnovers caused (61), and third in ground balls (136).
Robbins currently has 30 ground balls on the season, to go along with 18 caused turnovers. Her 56 career turnovers caused are third all-time for the Cardinals.
Augustana's Anne Hopkins was named CCIW Offensive Player of the Year, while Olivia Mayer, also from Augustana, was named CCIW Defensive Player of the Year. Carthage's Kara Vana was named Newcomer of the Year, and Lindsey Rosecrans from Illinois Wesleyan was named Coach of the Year.
North Central (13-4) travels to face Illinois Wesleyan (14-3) in the semifinals of the CCIW Tournament on Wednesday, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Other information about the tournament can be found at
