Sep. 18, 2016 – Facing their toughest opponent thus far on the season, the North Central College women's soccer team was defeated 6-0 against University of Chicago Sunday afternoon at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
North Central definitely had their work cut out for them as Chicago came into the match shutting out four of their five opponents. The Cardinals were outshot 12-4 in the first half, with the Maroons scoring in the ninth, 16
th, and 38
th minute. North Central would face a 3-0 deficit going into the break.
The Cardinals defense would do their best to hold off the Maroons attack, especially after a Chicago red card allowed North Central to take a one player advantage 21 minutes into the second half. However, the Maroons would add to their lead in the 77
th minute as Jenna McKinney logged her second goal of the game. One minute later, Caroline Olivero received a perfectly placed pass from Madori Spiker for the header into the back of the net. The Maroons capped off their scoring with a final goal at the 88:06 mark and would take the 6-0 victory.
Though outshot 21-8, North Central had an abundance of scoring opportunities as all of their shots were on goal.

Yasmin Chavez each logged two shots on goal for the Cardinals.
North Central receives a break in action until they travel to University of Steven's Point on Saturday September 24. Game time is scheduled for 1 pm. .
