Steven's Point, Wis. (Sep. 24, 2016) - Â Not being able to get anything going all game, the North Central College women's soccer team ended their non-conference schedule with a 1-0 loss to University of Wisconsin-Steven's Point Saturday afternoon.
Both the Cardinals and Pointers were unable to find their rhythm early, trading shots back and forth with neither being able to score. North Central logged eight shots in the first period, half being on goal. While outshooting the Pointer eight to five, Steven's Point made their last shot count as Danielle Thomason found the upper right corner with 18 seconds remaining, giving the hosts the lead at the break.
North Central (1-5-2) would put the pressure on the Pointers in the second half, working relentlessly to tie the score, forcing another eight shots including three on goal. Unfortunately, the Pointers defense held strong as the Cardinals would leave empty handed.
Jessica DeJong and
Nicole Novak each tallied five shots in the contest, with Novak leading all players in shots on goal with three. Goalie
Nicki Seiton finished the day with six saves.
The Cardinals return home on Saturday, October 1 as they begin conference play hosting Carthage College at 1 pm. Live stats can be found
