Jan 22. 2017- Keeping the momentum going, the North Central College men's volleyball team concluded their opening weekend sweeping the Emmanuel College Saints 3-0 in Boston, Massachusetts Sunday.

Emmanuel College began the first set leading the match offensively, though the Cardinals wait for their opportunity to strike. A kill by freshman middle hitter
Casey Hiller sparked a four point run for North Central, a tied match, and a drive for the win. Emmanuel found some inspiration and quickly brought on the set point. With the set on the line, the Cardinals rallied behind a kill from freshman opposite
Jason Eslinger to close out the win for the set.

In the second set, the Saints were once again quick on the offense with a 6-2 run to give them the upper hand. Though, North Central dug deep and found themselves tied at 10 due to an attacking error on Emmanuel. Moreover, a setting error by the Saints and a kill from sophomore opposite
Richard Due gave North Central the lead. North Central remained on the offence for the rest of the set and coasted to a 25-18 win.

Surged from winning the first two sets, North Central went on the offense behind freshman outside hitter
Nick Lilley who had a match-high 15 kills and an overall .565 hitting percentage for the match. Lilley also had a team high of six digs. The Cardinals finished the set winning 25-15 and hitting a combined average of .545 as a team.

Max Lawrence earned himself seven kills, while Eslinger garnered six and was hitting .333. Sophomore middle
Anthony Kluzak got on the board with a game high of four blocks and freshman setter
Michael Trunzo facilitated 32 assists.

Closing out their first weekend of the season, North Central improves to a record of 2-1. Their next match is set for Saturday Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. (ET) against Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan.
