A three-pointer on North Central's opening possession gave the Cardinals their only lead of the contest before the Tigers (1-2) responded with a three-pointer and a lay-in on their next two possessions and held the lead the remainder of the contest.
Trailing 33-27 coming out of halftime, the offense went ice cold as the Tigers outscored the Cardinals, 18-5 in the third quarter as North Central finished the quarter just 1-for-16 from the field, including an 0-for-10 mark from beyond the arc.
Colorado College took their largest lead of the contest into the final quarter, a 51-32 advantage, when suddenly the Cardinal offense came alive. Back-to-back three-pointers off the hand of
Siarra O'Neill cut the Tiger lead 53-45 at the 5:56 mark.
The Cardinals held tight down the stretch, pulling to within four of the lead 59-55 on a
Haydn Braun layup with just 50 seconds to play, but the Cardinals came up short on their final two possessions despite allowing just nine points over the final 10 minutes.
North Central shot just 30 percent from the field and did not help themselves from the free throw line, finishing the contest just 7-for-20.
Braun was the lone Cardinal to finish in double-figures with 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the field, while
Diamond Calicott grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds including nine on the offensive end.
McKenzee Gertz led the Tigers with a 17-point, 14-rebound double-double, while Casey Torbet also finished with 17 points before fouling out midway through the fourth quarter. Abby Walz added 10 rebounds to go along with a team-leading three assists.
