Box Score

Nov. 29, 2017 –
Snapping a five-game win streak against non-conference rival Benedictine University, the North Central College women's basketball team fell to 0-4 on the season on Wednesday with a 75-61 loss inside Gregory Arena.

The Eagles (3-1) came out on fire from the field, opening up a 15-5 lead just four minutes into the contest as Benedictine began the game converting on five of their first seven shots.

North Central (0-4) battled back to eventually take their first lead of the contest, as Siarra O'Neil connected from beyond the arc on the Cardinal's first possession of the second quarter to give the hosts a 20-19 advantage.

That lead was short lived for North Central as Benedictine's Georgia Alexakos layed in a bucket on the next possession, while Madisyn Fischer hit from deep to regain the lead in favor of the Eagles, 24-20.

Trailing 38-34 coming out of the intermission, three-pointer from O'Neil and Hannah Vitkus pulled North Central to within two, before Maya Walls converted in the paint to knot the score 42-42 with 7:12 to play in the third quarter.

The Eagle offense once again caught fire however, hitting from three-point range on three straight possessions to quickly re-open a nine-point lead and never looked back.  Benedictine led by as many as 16 points midway through the fourth quarter, at one point shooting 53 percent from beyond the arc before missing their final four three-point attempts.

Benedictine finished the contest 8-of-19 from three-point range, while the Cardinals finished 9-of-33 and were out-rebounded by a margin of 50 to 42.

Mayson Whipple led the Cardinal offense with 15 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field, while Andrea Dickerson added 11 points and two blocked shots.

Venita Parsons led all scorers with 17 points, while Fischer finished with 16 on 4-of-7 shooting from three-point range and a team-high six assists.  Andrea Fuoss also finished in double figures with 12 points, while Alexakos added nine points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

North Central begins College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play on Saturday, Dec. 2, traveling to North Park University with tip-off scheduled for 5 p.m.
