NCC Battles to Win Inaugural Home Opener

Mar. 8, 2017- In their inaugural home game as a program, the North Central College men's lacrosse team battled to overthrow the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) Raiders 7-6, late Wednesday night.
 
The Cardinal's attack opened quickly securing the first goal of the game in just over a minute and a half of play from freshman Noah Parrill. The Cardinals' attack was supported by a faceoff win by freshman Nick Pardo and a wide shot from freshman Jared Weaver. MSOE found themselves on the attack and scored their first goal with 11:02 left in the first quarter and another goal four minutes later. North Central responded with a second Parrill goal, followed a successful feed from freshman Danny Boyle to freshman Tommy Huizinga and the lead.
 
Early in the second quarter, MSOE found their third goal of the game. North Central fired off 10 more shots before Parrill notched his third goal of the game and fifth of the season. The Cardinals ended the half up 4-3.
 
The third quarter swayed in MSOE's favor as they scored an equalizer.
 
With the game tied going into the fourth quarter, North Central's attack looked to Parrill again for a goal, which came with 11:54 on the clock. The Cardinals connected with the back of the net two more times with goals from sophomore Tanner James.
 
Offensively, Parrill lead the Cardinals with four goals, James earned two and Huizinga scored one. Pardo collected a team high of five ground balls. North Central tallied a total of 39 shots, 22 ground balls, 19-out-of-19 successful clears and 10 faceoff wins.  
 
Defensively, freshman Ross Hixson was sold between the pipes amassing 11 saves.
 
The Cardinals return to Benedetti-Wehrli stadium this Sunday as they host the Monmouth College Fighting Scots at 12 p.m.
