Apr. 22, 2017 - The North Central College men's lacrosse team suffered a third consecutive loss in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play Saturday evening, as a run of seven unanswered second-half goals enabled Elmhurst College to secure a 12-4 win over the Cardinals at Langhorst Field.
The Cardinals kept pace in the first half due to a pair of goals by
Ethan Hurst, and trailed by just a 3-2 count late in the period before Elmhurst's Mac Harden scored with just 20 seconds on the clock. The Bluejays' defense stifled North Central's defense in the third quarter, allowing just two shots on goal and forcing six turnovers, and scored three times to extend their lead to 7-2.Â
Elmhurst (7-8, 3-2 CCIW) scored three more goals in the first 2:10 of the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 10-2. The Cardinals'
Jared Weaver notched a pair of goals in a 31-second span in the game's final minutes.
John Fitzgerald caused four turnovers and
Tommy Huizinga recorded six ground balls for the Cardinals.
North Central (9-4, 1-3) hosts Carroll University (4-10, 0-4) on Wednesday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
