Apr. 25, 2017 – After going 2-0 with a complete game gem over the weekend, North Central College's
Evan Blunk has been awarded as College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Pitcher of the Week for his performance over the week of Apr. 18-14.
Blunk tossed a complete game victory against Millikin University on Sunday, allowing a lone unearned run in the top of the first before shutting down the Big Blue offense over the course of the final eight innings, scattering just five hits while striking out seven and walking none on just 104 pitches.
On Apr. 18, Blunk pitched five innings against non-conference opponent Rockford University, allowing just one earned run, striking out four and again walking none.
Blunk finished the week with a 0.64 ERA, lowering his season ERA to 5.33, posting an overall record of 2-2 with 16 strikeouts over 27 innings pitched.
Blunk is the second Cardinal to earn CCIW Player of the Week honors, as
Nick Sotiros was named Hitter of the Week on Apr. 4.
