ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Jan. 17, 2018) – Beginning a stretch of three-straight road games, the North Central College women's basketball team was unable to find its rhythm on Wednesday night, falling 94-55 at the hands of Augustana College.
North Central (4-12, 2-5 CCIW) held strong over the opening seven minutes of the first quarter, holding a 10-7 advantage, but Augustana quickly closed the door and ended the quarter on a 13-1 run to take a 20-11 lead.
A three-pointer from
Rebekah Foley with 8:51 remaining in the second quarter cut the Viking lead 24-16, however that proved to be as close as North Central came to overtaking the lead as Augustana ballooned the lead back to 15 less than four minutes later.
The Vikings (11-5, 4-3 CCIW) put the contest away for good with a 25-2 run over the course of a five-minute stretch overlapping the third and fourth quarters, shooting 9-of-14 from the field over that stretch.
Maya Walls finished with 10 points to lead the Cardinals,
Natali Dimitrova and Foley each added seven points, while
Lyndsay Brennan grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Augustana's Izzy Anderson led all scorers with 27 points, while Alexis Jones finished with a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double. Scooter Lopez ad Meghan Stovall also finished in double figures, scoring 15 and 11 points, respectively.
