Jan. 23, 2018 – The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) selected North Central College freshman Egan Berta as the Wrestler of the Week for the week of Jan. 23, making him the first Cardinal to receive the honor this season.

Berta, who is 6-6 overall and 7-2 in duals, went 2-0 last week at the 157 weight class and helped the Cardinals to two wins in the process. He defeated Wheaton College's Jonavan Huggins with a 26-10 technical fall on Jan. 16 before taking a 5-2 decision over University of Chicago's Jason Crary on Jan. 20.

North Central (11-2, 3-0 CCIW) will compete at the Wheaton College Pete Willson Invitational on Friday, Jan. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. and 9 a.m., respectively. The Cardinals enter the meet as the 13th-ranked team in the nation.
