Box Score

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Oct. 10, 2018) - With a cool and breezy Wednesday evening only yielding one goal in the entire game, the North Central College men's soccer team found themselves on the wrong side of that goal, falling to Carthage College 1-0.

The game was well contested throughout, with a nearly even amount of shots coming from each side. The Red Men (7-7, 3-1 CCIW) were able to break through in the 24th minute, with Ivan Esquivel getting a pass from Freddy Martinez and off a Cardinal defender and firing a rocket into the net from 25 yards out.

The score stayed the same thereafter, with the Red Men defense thwarting the Cardinal offense for most of the night. The Cardinals had 12 total shots, with six of them being on target. Carthage shot the ball nine times, while only four of them were on goal.

Carthage's Niko Mavrogiannis saved five shots in the win, while North Central's Marco Soto saved three in the loss.

The Cardinals (8-4, 3-2 CCIW) have a full week off before heading to Elmhurst College to face off against the Blue Jays on Oct. 17. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
