KENOSHA, Wis. (Oct. 16, 2018) –
Still in search of their first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) win, the North Central College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 contest at Carthage College on Tuesday inside Tarble Arena.

The Cardinals (3-17, 0-5 CCIW) had a tough time returning the Carthage serve in the opening set, as the Lady Reds tallied five service aces in the opener.  The turning point in the first set came with the Cardinals trailing 7-5, as the Lady Reds rattled off seven straight points to open up a 14-5 advantage.

Carthage went on the claim the opening set 25-14, hitting .312 with 14 kills to North Central's five, but the Cardinals regrouped early on in the second set to jump out to a 7-3 lead and force a Lady Reds timeout.  The Cardinal run was highlighted by a pair of service aces and a kill from Claire Vrabec, while Anna Billman and Sarah Geosling also recorded kills, leading to the timeout.

Carthage (16-7, 6-0 CCIW) was able to regroup during that timeout, going on a 6-0 run to quickly overtake the lead 9-7.  North Central held their own over the next few points, trailing by just two, 14-12, when Carthage put the set away with a 9-1 run.

North Central hit .054 over the second set, while the third was also one to forget, committing five attack errors to just five kills while Carthage finished with 13 kills to only one error in the 25-8 final set.

Vrabec led North Central with five kills, while Geosling finished with three service aces and Katelynn Kuehl paced the defense with 19 digs.

Megan Behrendt led all players with 14 kills, while Andrea Kozak finished with 12 and zero attack errors, hitting .800 on the match.  Ellie LeCount dished out 28 assists and led all players with five of the Lady Reds' 15 aces on the evening.

The Cardinals hit the road for the final time this season on Friday, Oct. 19 at Augustana College, with the match slated for 7 p.m. in Rock Island, Illinois.  Links to live in-game coverage are available HERE.
