Box Score

Enduring brutal winds and periods of heavy snowfall, the North Central women's soccer team dispatched of North Park University 5-3 in their final home game of the 2018 season.

The Cardinals offered their most dominant offensive showing of the year, scoring a season-high five goals in a game they led for 88 minutes. Lexi Dimovski started the onslaught of goals in the second minute when she scored off a one-timer from fellow forward Aly Crum. The junior struck again in the 32nd minute, this time from a deflection during a scrum in front of the net following a corner kick. Although North Park pulled within one a couple minutes later, Dana Plotke extended the lead to 3-1 when her untouched corner kick found the back of the net in the 43rd minute.

The second half saw an equally high volume of goals as the teams traded goals. North Park scored in the 54th minute, but in the 71st minute Dimovski found the net for a third time. With five minute left North Park brought themselves within a goal once more, but Bri McAloon's goal in the 87th minute closed the door on the Vikings for good.

"You don't think the weather will play that much of a factor in a game, but today it was dramatic. I thought our offense was clinical in the final third and Lexi Dimovski stood on her head. It was a great way to wrap up our season at home. We hope we can continue this momentum into Adrian," said head coach Andrew Gamarra afterwards.

North Central (7-8-1, 3-4-1 CCIW) plays their final regular season game of the year on Oct. 22 when they travel to Adrian College (9-5-1, 6-1 MIAA). Game time is set for 7 p.m. (EST).
