PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Oct. 27, 2018) - In their final nonconference match-up on the schedule, the North Central Cardinals faced a tough no. 18 University of Wisconsin-Platteville team and found themselves on the wrong end of a 2-0 final.
The Cardinals fought hard for all 90 minutes of regulation, outshooting the Pioneers (12-1-3) by a seven shot margin but were unable to find the back of the net in the game.
The Pioneers scored first in the 29
th minute, with Nick Hoklas finding pay dirt for UW-Platteville off an assist by Brad Strobel. The score remained steady for the rest of the first half.
Adding onto the already 1-0 score was Braxton Rottinghaus, scoring an unassisted goal in the 87
th minute of regulation. The Cardinals could not respond for the remainder, with the score ending 2-0.
Goalie
Marco Soto saved three shots for the Cardinals in the loss, while Nate Miller saved five shots for the Pioneers in his 12th win on the season.
Following the contest, the Cardinals (9-7, 4-4 CCIW) clinched the fourth seed in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) tournament with a Millikin University loss to Carroll College.
